CLINICS

  1. These clinics are geared to students from grade school thru high school.
    They are set up to provide your students with;

  2. An introduction to jazz and improvised music.

    This will cover the the history of jazz and its origins.
    Some of the most influential and important jazz musicians of the 20th century.
    The difference between jazz (American classical music)
    and European classical music

  3. An introduction to some of the instruments, and their sounds, which are integral to jazz and improvised music.

    I will demonstrate the sounds of the saxophone, clarinet and flute
    families, as well as different wind instruments from around the world.
    Each musician will demonstrate his own instrument (drums, bass, piano, etc..) and its application
    to jazz.

  4. An actual live recording session;

    This is done with a piece of equipment called a digital phrase sampler, which I will bring
    This enables me to record the students (singing, clapping, banging, etc.) and create a song
    which we will improvise on and play along to.

  5. A live performance;

    We will play my original jazz compositions as well as some of the standards written by the
    jazz masters (Ellington, Parker, Monk, Coltrane)
